Title: Google Search Box
Description: (Look below the page)

Google seems to be crawling through the forum with automatic indexers, those who need to search for threads and topics might find easier to affix site:http://militarynuts.com/index.php?showforum=1 after your search terms, rather than by using the forum search function.
Gary1910:
Check Theory Google search boxes addotion below.
And some background info here, this forum is free, therefore we are not getting the full capability of Invision Power Board, the Search function button above does not work.
Cavsg who helped to setup this forum later added two free 3rd party search engines which are found at the bottom, but they are limited to thread title and up to 1000 threads.
And since we have already exceeded the 1000 threads in the forum, they are only good for older threads.

Thanks for the info Iowa_BB61
I have tried it out and seem to work fine and it is great! :)
So let's me to explain in details for the rest of us here.( Btw correct me if I am wrong)
1) Copy this
site:http://militarynuts.com/index.php?showforum=12) Go to Google website
here & paste it on Google search box.
3) Leave a blank after it and type in
+ and your
search item as shown below:

I have chosen a simple term (A26) whereby it will not appear in any thread title, so that I can find individual posting, which it did, which is even better the 3rd party search engine. B)
Btw is it possible to have this Google search function incorporated into our forum and work automatically like the 3rd party search engine?

Yup, you can register an account with
google custom search engine (link), i think you must be an admin to edit the CSS codes within the style sheet in this forum though.

I've just added a google search box to the bottom of the page (it should appear on all relevant forum pages). Allows for both www and local site (i.e., militarynuts.com) search. Do feedback on how and whether it is working for you. All the best!

Yes, i've been waiting for this enhancement for awhile. Thanks theory

Someone suggested that I move the search box to the top. I've added a duplicate box near the top. Also reformatted the thing a little to reduce its vertical footprint (I might go further in that direction).

hello theory, is there any way to put a individual thread search function ? that would be really useful
as in search within the individual threads ?

I agree, but unfortunately, I think the answer is "no".
Google gives the option of restricting the search to particular site or domain, and that's basically the feature that we are making use of. Go to
http://www.google.com, click on "Advanced Search" to the right of the search box, and you can see the option "Search within a site or domain". Using my search box is equivalent to filling in that box with "http://militarynuts.com" and searching for your phrase accordingly. Filling in the thread url (e.g., "http://militarynuts.com/index.php?showtopic=2429") does not appear to make any difference at all.
If anyone know of a solution, do tell.
