Title: Singapore satellite capability
weasel1962 - September 25, 2009 03:45 AM (GMT)
Just a thread to consolidate all SG satellite capability
ISRO's PSLV C-14 took off successfully on 23 Sep 2009 without the NTU designed X-SAT which was scheduled to launch by PSLV in 2008/2009 but now appears increasingly unlikely to ever take off.
SingTel's ST-2 will however take off in 2nd qtr 2011 in the Ariane 5 ECA launch vehicle. This will replace the ST-1 satellite which was launched in 1998.
Sg's capability was first highlighted for developing its first comms transponder for UoSat under the merlion project in 1999. SG has since been linked to Israel's ofeq programme by JDW.
SG has 3 sat earth stations. CRISP receives sat info from a number of sats.

SingTel has three major earthstations, SG (as in the country) as a whole has quite a few more. it also depends what you consider an earthstation since technically any single satellite antenna can be considered an earthstation.
as far as comms earthstation farms go, we have at least four.
FIVE-TWO - September 25, 2009 05:23 AM (GMT)
the quoted 3 x Asiasat and 3 x Apstar they are the same three satellites with multiple names. Indonesia's Cakrawarta was about to run out of juice at that time (2003).
since then Measat has added Measat III parked at the Measat I slot (IIR) but not sure if Measat I has already been decommissioned yet.

You are right to numbers. As to what is considered earth station, this is generally per FBO licensing requirement, a list is available below...
http://www.ida.gov.sg/Policies%20and%20Reg...0424172641.aspxAs to the 4th earth station, I presume you are referring to the ST Teleport earth station complex?

2100. :P
If you're referring to
this, is just some guy's fantasy with no investors willing to dump money into the project.

Yup, this one.. I've posted this link in my previous, previous post.. Saw in the local TV news last year or early this year that completion would be delayed.. Website not updated..

Hmm by the way, last year's Singapore Air Show got mention something about this spaceport.
One of the magazines on Singapore Air Show last year did an article on this.
Still have it at home.

Looks like X-sat won't go up with the PSLV-C15.
http://www.space.tv/reports/GSLV_D3_Launch...cience_999.htmlThe university project is the SRE II. The algerian sat is the alsat. The 2 canadian sats are the AISsat and TLsat.
Still no official confirmation on launch date. Looks like may have to wait til C16 for the next launch.
90 cents article.

India GSLV rocket launch failure. Plunges into ocean under 10 minutes into launch.

weasel1962 - August 18, 2010 10:51 AM (GMT)
Last 2 remaining rocket launches by India are the PSLV C-16 and GSLV F06 scheduled for last qtr 2010.
The former will carry Resourcesat whilst the latter will carry GSAT-5 and a comms sat.
Looks like x-sat won't go up this year, if it ever goes up. Personally I think the project already gone (minus the up).
On the bright side, ST-2 on track to go up via an ariane rocket, 2nd qtr 2011.

as long as the rocket doesn't die again, X-SAT will go up..
weasel1962 - December 27, 2010 05:04 AM (GMT)
Last Indian GSLV rocket this year went up then kaboom.
http://hindu.com/2010/12/26/stories/2010122659770100.htmI wonder how will this affect x-sat launch schedule which is reported to be going up with the PSLV C16 tentatively scheduled for 1st week of Feb 2011. Unlike the GSLV program (where the latest rocket failure represented 4 failures out of 7), the PSLV program has been thankfully a lot more reliable.
valice - April 19, 2011 10:42 AM (GMT)
X-Sat will be launched on Wednesday, 20 April 2011 at 12.42pm (Singapore time) on board PSLV-C16.
http://www.hindu.com/2011/04/18/stories/2011041859920100.htmCan catch the launch live here as well:

Successful lift off confirmed. X-Sat has finally been launched into space at ~ 822km altitude.
