Title: Wish List for Singapore Airshow 2010
Description: Suggestions?
Black Aces - October 15, 2009 02:26 AM (GMT)
I'm not sure who are the 'official' relevant bodies that access this site. But I am hoping that we can use this thread to provide suggestions to the organisers of the
Official Website of Singapore Airshow 2010]Singapore Airshow.
Admittedly, I'm not expecting all suggestions to be taken up by the organisers. But hopefully, some of this suggestions may be used to 'improve' the Airshow?
Let me start off:
(i)
Gathering of F-16 Asian operators:
-
RSAF
- TNI-AU
- RTAF
- PAF
- ROKAF
- RCAF
- JASDF (F-2 cousin) :P
[
*Gathering of SU-27/30 Asian operators]
- Tough here as we don't operate Sukhois and guess Malaysia is in a better position to use it for their Lima, even though the list of Asian operators is interesting (3 alone in SEA):
- TUDM
- TNI-AU
- VPAF
- IAF
It will be commendable if the RMAF is willing to sent one to SA.
(ii)
Aerobatic Teams: -
Black Knights (RSAF) -
usual -
Oct 1 (PLAAF) => It will be a coup for Singapore and SA if the Oct 1 display team will perform their maiden display outside China. The current used type is the J-7 which the team will eventually convert to the J-10.
-
Fly Roulettes (RAAF) Given the distance from Sing & Oz, it should be ok for them to perform here (notwithstanding cost & losgistics)
-
Red Arrows (RAF), Blue Angels (USN) & ThunderBirds (USAF) => Hard given the distance (& cost) involved in flying across the Pacific & Continents. Moreover, this team won't just fly to here to attend a event but rather as a whole tour (take the Thunderbirds display for example).
That's all from me. As the absence of more foreign military display and the usual suspects - SAF & US Military. Singapore Airshow runs the risk being a local military exhibition.
IMO
Iowa_BB61 - October 15, 2009 02:30 AM (GMT)
No human jam.
Efficient crowd control.
spiderweb6969 - October 15, 2009 05:40 AM (GMT)
the ability to take photo of the weapon only with no babies, children, mother, father, grandmother, grandfather all gather to pose/crowd in front of it for their camera.
Sayaret - October 15, 2009 05:49 AM (GMT)
An elaboration of earlier suggestion on human jam and efficient crowd control -
As per the last one, the bus system simply sucks because the bus supervisors were too stupid to allow multiple boarding zones, instead they made the buses stop at only 2 designated zones for boarding....not until several calls to the Police personnel on duty there to ask the Bus supervisors to widen the boarding areas that the crowd started to move..... more fans / cooling equipment installed outside the waiting areas too.....
Alfie007 - October 15, 2009 07:36 AM (GMT)
Since the venue is just next to the sea, how about having a small maritime display of vessels from Navies / Coast Guards berthed at the coast??
xtemujin - October 15, 2009 08:57 AM (GMT)
Hopefully I'm able to go just to photograph and document for future reference.
I'm not expecting anything great for the Singapore Airshow 2010, nowadays a lot of things here in Singapore "Tak Boleh".

While I agree, its an impossible request. Must share, you know.

i think by RCAF u actually mean RoCAF right ?
doubt if they come, the PLA 1st october team will come.
and if they do come, things could get pretty messy even if this is a trade show. why create a potential firestorm ? best let sleeping dogs lie.
@typhoon
you noticed the symbolism ? all 3 generations of SAF there. 1 gen retired and now old men, 2G in old BDUs, 3 G in sunglasses and digital camo Uniforms.

OOoo yeah.. that would spice up the exhibition.. :D
Alfie007 - October 15, 2009 04:13 PM (GMT)
Hmmmm, wouldn't it be interesting if the Black Knights fly in formation with a SIA 747 or A380?? I remember seeing photos of the Red Arrows doing just that with a British Airways jet..

That would be a wonderful spectacle! Also, a heritage flypast thing with A-4SU (from France), F-5, F-16 and F-15.
homing - October 16, 2009 02:08 AM (GMT)
Better traffic control and an alternate route for planes taxiing in and out, especially the A380 to taxi to the runway instead of using the "old" route which will cause na unnecessary traffic jam. The need to introduce a "public" feeder bus route from nearest MRT station during the show instead of relaying on the old from hotel bus route. (the hotel bus feeder service is ok during 2008)

RMAF just invited me to Butterworth for Suri Kiran display on Jan. 18, after that the team will go to Thailand. Next stop after thailand should be a no brainer.
pirate - November 29, 2009 08:55 AM (GMT)
Its been a long time since a FLANKER makes its appearance in Singapore. Next year will be 20 years since Victor Pugachuv flew his Su-27 over Singapore skies.
xtemujin - November 29, 2009 09:24 AM (GMT)
I hope that the RMAF SU30MKM will perform in the Singapore Airshow 2010 as it is something different for Sinkahporean just like the F16C and Apache to the Malaysians.
Reminds me of the Singapore Airshow 2008, we were not allowed to photograph closely at the RSAF display at first while the USAF aircraft was up close and personal.
The RSAF area was a red tape big square perimeter before the red tape was put at the aircraft.
Most people were avoiding the RSAF area as it was red taped area before it was put away.

From what I've heard, its a govt to govt invitation but things are not concrete yet. Chances are over 50% at this moment.

They are invited. But the ball is now on the Malaysian side.
xtemujin - November 29, 2009 11:04 AM (GMT)
I hope that Kementah will give the green light so that Sinkahporean will see the SU30MKM.
Major Patricia Yapp Syau Yin FTW. B)

If the F-15SG is here earlier, perhaps it can do an integrated flypast with the RMAF Su-30MKM.. air forces in unity..
Alfie007 - November 29, 2009 04:59 PM (GMT)
Hmmm, no update of flying / static display in SG airshow website as yet.. <_<

blue angels.....

Kanzer, I wish so too! However it will remain just that, a wish. If I'm not mistaken,
the first (and only) time the Blue Angels performed in Asia was in the Philippines in their 1959 season. That should be in the Grumman F-11F jet.
If they ever return for an Asia performance they'd have to land on every bloody damn atoll in the Pacific just to get to SG :D The C-130 'Fat Albert' just don't have the range to refuel the seven jets across the Big Pond. It too, will have to land on those dang atolls :D
But than again how they did it in 1959 remains a mystery to me. Any Milnuts brudders have any clue or links?
That said, I'm sure you'll agree the 'Blues' fly a FAR tighter diamond four than the USAF Thunderbirds. I enjoyed their show routines multiple times while vacationing in the US in the past. Just got back last Sat. Nov. 19th after visiting Nellis AFB and the T-birds end of show season performance Nov. 14-15. Time for me to return to my favourite airshow 'homeground' and the Blue Angels at MCAS Miramar next year 2010 :)
Go Naval Aviation!

Patrouille de France? when was the last time they visited?

Asian Aerospace 2000. That year featured three(!) aerobatic teams - Black Knights (four A4-SUs, two F-16s), RAAF Roulettes and France's Patrouille de France.

Latest source says they will not come in time for singapore air show. but they are coming to the region in 2010.

Do you mean the Super Hornets? Cos I guess the F-35s are still a fair bit away in terms of delivery.... ;)
xtemujin - December 7, 2009 04:26 AM (GMT)
It'll be great to see the RAAF F-111 here in Sinkahpoh.
I do hope that there will be a good foreign acrobatic team for the SA2010.
Sinkahporean were only able to see the USAF Takdebirds.
Alfie007 - December 7, 2009 02:13 PM (GMT)
Still no updates in SA2010 website..
Let's say if there's no aerobatic team next year, will the Black Knights take center stage again?? Don't think so right, since they last performed in 2008??

Oops totally forgot about the RAAF Rhinos! :P
I had mixed up on the Lightning II, which should be the Rhino, being the replacement to the Pigs!
Thanks for jerking my memory warspite.
