Short Video by Cyberpioneertv on the SAF Commandos.. Presenter is Khai Yan..
| QUOTE |
| They are an elite team of fighters - the SAF commandos, trained to infiltrate enemy territory. But behind their well toned bodies, lies months of training and hard work, both physically and mentally. In this video, Khai Yan talks to commando fighter CPL Dominic Nakamura, to learn about what it takes to be an elite fighter. |

Frankly, these days my faith with our ground combat unit is diminishing. have plenty of reserve about their ability to perform in realtime combat. IMO, need to send some NSF commandos to war threatre i.e. IRAQ & Afganhistan. Definitely not to be some medical centre guard.
Even if our commando dont fire a single bullet just "take a tour" with US/Nato Combat unit on some missions that will be good enough to show whether our commando is up to it or will they have so much pride in peaceful environment and in hostile environment pi in his pant or totally the opposite.
Right now my mind isnt about how their love ones will react if some mishaps occurred. I thought its country over family.
AGAIN IMO, i feel that generally singaporean boys have this academic mentality Ace in all subjects. Total failure in applying it practically.
Oops did i stir up some controversies? :D

Yes, agree with your comments totally
...on sending our troops (sp. forces) to war hotspots...let's start with bthe career soldiers...at least the emotional part from parents of NSF is not a issue.
Alfie007 - January 15, 2010 12:59 AM (GMT)
Yes, agreed with both of you..
Probably that's why there's the ADF, which I will not elaborate in public.. B)

well, if your faith is decreasing, I kinda empathise, but CDOs are really a different breed of soldiers...
with regards to CDOs and combat zones...

It is really no joke going to real ops. My unit nearly kenna before. Boys can cry & balls will drop. Serving for more than 10 years in green uniform, I am still contetned that we dun have to fire a round to defend our nation :D

wah...the only recent ops I know my unit took part in was to catch a particular Mas Selamat...but that was after I ORDed :P
before that a coy in my battalion did get sent out on ops before, but those were non-combat type, and I cannot discuss anymore...
blowpipe, whatever that was, I'm sure you guys must have been ultra relieved to have been told to stand down...I cannot imagine what a real incident would have been like...

During Ops Thunderstorm, I was amongst many Sig guys assigned with the Cdo search teams on board those refugee ships.
The experience changed my impression that we must not let down on our defence and we must have good govt.
We were threaten by ex-ARVN Rangers who have are the "guardian/policemen" on these vessels.
Anyway, searching for weapons and people was harrowing.....
....packed, hidden in all sorts of unimaginable places; we have to do it as these elements were threatening our efforts to help the refugees, feed them , medical assistance, locationg their lost ones...some were on other ships.
Many items located ...many small arms, knives, M16s, M 60, grenade, 106mm recoiless gun, Signal sets, ammo of all sort,"many sealed boxes"
Some Cdos teaming with us also happen to be our course mates back at Nee Soon. Yes, respect for them, it was 24/7 crazy week for everybody.
...but many valuable lessons learnt by all units, function owners.

but back in those days everything had a much more lawless air about it. even in Singapore we still have gangsters and those ang-tao-chia (anti-riot vehicles) are not unusual to be seen showing the folks who the boss is.
