New short video on NDU training from Cyberpioneertv..

QUOTE
They thrive in the depths of the ocean carrying out missions both in water and on land. And their operations are characterised by stealth and an element of surprise. Mano travels to a camp at the northern tip of our island where he meets this small unit of highly trained men from the Singapore Navy's Naval Diving Unit. Take a short ride on the wild side and discover what makes them the men of mettle.

Tough fellas, esp.when they go thru the hellweek.

i thought this one was pretty nicely presented, with the low-def camera filming them dozing off during mealtimes giving a very 'insider' feel to the vid :P

The training our NDU guys undergo are anytime tougher than that of the army commandos. Really need a strong pair of legs to propel you a few klicks to the destination ( while laden down with ammo, weapons and tank) and then fight on land before returning to the sea again. Salute to our SEALs

I admire these guys. I had an ex-colleague, from NDU.
He mentioned to me how after hell week he had rashes all over his body, from head to toe because of the sand in his uniform. He went to see a neigbourhood GP for his rash. The GP in turn was shocked to see this condition and requested him to make a police report for physical torture and abuse! My ex-colleague just smiled and laugh about it.

IAF:

Let's not go there....every elite unit has its merits and regime to undergo....there is none which can be compared to on a flat even surface.....

If you have seen what the Taiwanese SEALS fo thru then you would think the US SEALS are "sissies".

Noted, that was a sweeping statement. Thanks for pointing out

A former Chief Ranger Trainer who is Q course and combat diver qualified (plus other qualifications that I don't want to list) previously explained me that the SEAL course is a basic combat diver course, which provides a good grounding in basics. Both the Commandos and NDU send people to the SEAL course. I just hope you realise that NDU is not the only Singapore unit with trained combat divers and that each Singapore unit with combat divers have their own unique specialization and skill sets. So I shall presume you are saluting all our combat divers, regardless of their unit.

BTW, I know a few officers from Commandos and I know at least one who is both ranger qualified and has a 1st Class honours, just in case you think that they are all brawn.

Something for divers at the usual place.
