Title: SA2010 pictures
FIVE-TWO - February 4, 2010 08:46 PM (GMT)
alright starting this thread for all actual photos from SA2010 that you took yourself (i.e. don't link other people's picture here) including birds (metal), birds (feathered), birds (ah moi), and other sundries ;@)
FIVE-TWO - February 4, 2010 08:49 PM (GMT)
starting off… for my very interested young friends… an introduction to the three basic "bird" shots:
boob shot
ass shot
up-skirt :P
FIVE-TWO - February 4, 2010 08:50 PM (GMT)
couple more hot-ass…

Iowa_BB61 - February 5, 2010 07:10 PM (GMT)

Out of these five pics, the A$$ on fire 111 shot takes the cake. Also its very rare to have such clear blue skies all around such as the beautiful weather on opening day.

(1) thanx tomcat the F-111 was pretty in its own piggy way  but heard that it is not flying today too. we probably got their truly last flight on Wednesday :(
(2) the rest, where are your pix? do post them up. its always good to show and as a photographer, critical comments are invaluable.
(3) thanx for enjoying the pix, don't forget to offer any other comments especially critiques.

FIVE-TWO,
Great take of the aerobatic display, especially the F111. B)
Unfortunately, it was very cloudy on the second day of the trade day. It was blue skies all round during the first day of the trade day.
Cheers.

Caught a glimpse of it while I was in my office (in Loyang) but couldn't make it to my camera in time!!! I think it made a single pass over the show site only... :(

5-2, those are awesome pics! :D you are making me even more jealous now that I missed SA2010 :(
FIVE-TWO - February 6, 2010 06:56 AM (GMT)
the B52 made a stealth approach, one single sweeping pass. I almost missed it if not for the other milnuts sending out alert :) and some of my other friends managed to miss it entirely!

Yeah man, I failed to take out my camera, attched the lens and open the window in less than 5 sec from the moment I saw the plane as it fly past the exhibition area. And it was flying close to my office as it banked left and flew away after the flypast. :(
I had assumed (wrongly of cos) it will not be the first plane in the air!!!

here's the B-52H LA 021 I believe to be from 11 Bomb Sqn of 2d Bomb Wing. Does anyone saw the colour of the tail stripe or a better picture to confirm?

thanx f14. BTW this was shot on Wednesday which was pretty cloudy. the trick was to track the bird and shoot when it ventures into the pockets of blue skies :)

@FIVE-TWO Thansk for the photo. Nice!

My best B-52 shot I got...
FIVE-TWO - February 6, 2010 02:11 PM (GMT)
are you able to tell if the stripe on the top edge of the tail fin is orange or red?
bdique - February 6, 2010 03:37 PM (GMT)
this shot is pure awesome, how did you get it? it gives me a perspective as if I'm on a chase plane behind the BUFF :D

you can do better than that, imagine you're a MiG-25 pilot intercepting the nasty old unker Sam's bird
its simply the angle the aircraft was banking and the long lens perspective that puts you up close.

From other threads of the same aircraft, the band is red - 96th Bomb Squadron.

The B-52 seems pretty far away from the show site?
FIVE-TWO - February 7, 2010 03:40 AM (GMT)
xt, great shot of the thunderbolt and bird, and also the apache/F16 crossing. I didn't manage to catch them doing that :(

from the size (since I was using a fixed focal lens) compared with a B777, I'd say it was flying beyond the flight path out of Changi.

Nothing much to do in BSB, watch Astro or go to night market. I wonder if the good kolo mee in Tutong is still there. :)

Cmbt n Five-Two, very nice pics...you guys make me wanna go buy an expensive
lens !!!
valice - February 8, 2010 03:22 PM (GMT)
Prime lense really says it all... Swee!
Also, the exposure is just nice!
For plane shots, on such a bright day, evaluative or partial exposure metering?
Unker, how was 7D's tracking? Fast fast?

I was on evaluative, but did not enable the 7D's highlight priority feature since I do want to keep the details in the shadows. AF is really fast but I do not know how it performs in relation to a 1Ds MkIII.
Here's an interesting real world review of the 7D AF.
