Today 90c msm paper reported that "physical training throughout the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF)" is to be outsourced to commercial fitness outfits by end 2011.

Incidentally, it's notable that PTIs from the beginning have always been male. Will there be a change in this policy? :P

It's to free up these Fitness Specialists (FS) for combat roles.. The news article is by Jermyn Chow.. Hope his report is not misleading this time..

The news article says the civilians (Certis Cisco) take over gym training, endurance runs & IPPT, whereas swimming & SOC will still be done by a core team of FS.. So, I guess we still see FSs around but not so many..

For the moment, i thought the contract will go to the likes of those fitness centers like California which have a longer and more established track record of running fitness programs.

Likely Certis will be buying that capability such as hiring ex-PTI veterans for this job.

There are a couple of female PTs in the police force. Real attitude problems, I couldn't give a darn how large their boobs are, if only I could just give them one tight slap across their face.

TO what i have heard. PT sessions in BMT havelong already been outsourced to private fitness centres. And yes, there are females intructors. :D

I suspect the SAF is copying/following the way the US military is doing now. Outsourcing everything so that the military can really concentrate on their core competency.
