Title: Blackout?
Description: What is the military protocol?

sgboy2004 - June 29, 2004 03:12 PM (GMT)
In the event of a blackout...is there any protocol in place for national security ... in case it might be a case of terrorist attack

But the blackout might sound an alarm .... a security breach alarm

The cause was reportedly due to a fault in the supply of natural gas from Indonesia.

Look at our vunerablility to external control.

Any comments?

apart from backup power supply, I am actually more concern about the safety of Singapore as a whole... in terms of terrrorists attack.

Is there any military operation protocol in the event of a failed power supply in Singapore as a whole?

How to mobilise the forces when TV and radios are down, phone network are in disrupt, and the transport system may be crippled and the civilian society as a whole is in chaos.

agreed

have always thought that our mobilisation is more for show [sad but true]

assuming blackout & knock out of telecomms, assuming we have the initiative to return back to camp w/o notification

we'll still have the problem of reaching it in time [4-6hrs may be too late] and also public transport issues

wonder how the israelis do open mob?

the most traditional method...
word of mouth!
maybe all camps will have loud speakers and simply shout WAR!!! and thus all units and men get mob.
:P

i believe that during the last blackout.. the MRT was still running...

and the phones are still working...

and your walkman, radio, car radio, handphones, housephones and fax are still working right?

in the event of emergency, like war.... the sirens would sound... even if the powers are out.... everyone is supposed to grab a working radio and listen for "important message"

the army also got some system that can auto call up large numbers of soldiers through various telecommunication devices....

oh.... just in case the sirens also mati.... <_<

i think the police siren and loudspeaker combo would be just as effective....

and if these cant wake u up... i am sure the enemy artillery barrage would wake up even the dead.... :D :P
