Title: RSAF F-15SG
cavsg - September 9, 2005 02:22 PM (GMT)
Lets see who have the 1st F-15SG model.
Viper52 - September 9, 2005 02:59 PM (GMT)
We gotta know what it looks like first! Colours (most likely boring old Gunship Grey anyway) and markings. Oh, and serials too...

Thanks! I know about the photo, but somehow I doubt the real thing will have the flag on the tail...
Anyway, the for everyones information best kits for the Strike Eagle are:
1/72 - Hasegawa (a number of inaccuracies, likened to be more a F-15D with CFTs than a 'true' F-15E)
1/48 - Revell by a mile
1/32 - Tamiya in a field of 1 candidate
SBS3624G - September 21, 2005 01:14 PM (GMT)
I tried building F-15E before, but the quality of the ACADEMY brand sucks, the stickers have largely peeled away.
PS: I am SBS1908B from sgforums. :)
SBS3624G - September 21, 2005 01:16 PM (GMT)
Tamiya is better, I feel.
To date, though, I've only seen F-15C 1:48 scale though.
zander_0633 - January 10, 2006 03:00 PM (GMT)
Well, I will go with the brand Revell.
Viper52 - January 31, 2006 02:58 PM (GMT)
Know someone doing a 142 Sqn F-15SG using the 1/72 Academy kit and Horizon ModelTech A-4SU 142 Sqn markings. He hopes to finish it in March. Will try to get him to post pics of the completed model here.
Viper52 - April 19, 2006 01:12 PM (GMT)
A South Korean modeler has built a
1/48 scale F-15K SLAM Eagle using the Revell kit with GE F110 nozzles robbed from Hasegawa F-16s and adding a few antennas.

Hi kace, you F-15SG is looking darn good! Post some pics when you're done ok? What kind of markings are you going to put on it? Just one thing though, the RSAF is getting the Sniper XR instead of the TigerEye for its Targeting pod, but it looks like you're already quite advanced with scratchbuilding the TigerEye... :P
BTW, you're from Brissy eh? Spent 4 years in Melbourne some years back, and popped by Brisbane for a vacation too. Great place!

almost completed final pics...

Hi Kace,
Nice work. However, doubt they will spray squadron logo on conformal tanks. Cos they are can be removed. They still can fly the Eagles in a "clean" configuration.
So, I believe the squadron logo will still be on the tail.
Just my two cents worth.

A little curious.....is it paint/color scheme for the F-15T (F15SG) already defined b the Airforce??

nope. But most likely it is the old gunship grey scheme. The scheme above is based on the skyhawk's south east asian scheme which is cooler imo.

not really. The squadron insignia for the USAF jets are on the comformal fuel tanks. Besides i rarely see a strike eagle with CFTs taken off. Even then, they could paint over the insignia on the fuselage itself. So no worries.

thanks for your comments guys/gals, this is not the definative F-15SG i'm sure because there are so many variables not firmed up. sqn markings, colour scheme (i sure hope it is SEA camo, and not dull grey), avonics, and ammo load out (more or less firm). there isn't even a name for this variant...!!!
discussion is good for modeling.
i just submitted this bird for QMHE competition (Queensland Modeling Hobbies Expo) over this weekend. there are 4 birds in the category:
1xF-15SG
1xTBM1 Avenger
2xSu-30 Flanker
getting interesting with a eagle-flanker fight out! hee... hee...
Callsign 24 Seira - August 27, 2006 10:00 AM (GMT)
Kace,
Yr F 15SG Model really looks impressive, it will nice if you shoot a few more photo view from different angle.
Yeap, SEA scheme look look..remind us of the Skyhawk era.....
Best wishes to yr competition. Cheers !
Out of curiousity...wat decal did u use for the SU30? RMAF
kace - August 27, 2006 03:04 PM (GMT)
those flankers are not mine... i was the only non-angmo competing there. unluckily i was edge out by an avenger so i got silver. and flanker got third, hee... hee... so the strike eagle is better than 2xflankers.
i will try to upload some pics in the next few days.
if you got any question on the conversion, just ask, i hope i can help. else can view the F-15 group build thread (i provided a link earlier on) that started this project. enjoy...
i got another silver for F-4E Betty Lou. it is OOB from tamiya again SEA camo with no modification but a clear nose section showing the radar and the famous gattling gun.

She's a beauty.
And looking at the RSAF, she's come quite a long way hasn't she. From flying reconditioned Skyhawks and Hunters to Strike Eagles and possibly JSFs.

Well Done! Seems like a fellow modeller (under the modeller's name Leslie Choy) has managed to complete customizing (esp the twin blips at the tail) and building the F-15SG .
Just saw this at
Aircraft Resource Centre, look under the
'1/48 Academy F-15SG'.
